Teams and organisations

Companies don't have communication problems. They have conversations nobody wants to have.

When a team doesn't work, it is almost never for lack of technical skill. It is a set of tacit agreements about what can and cannot be said in that room, agreements nobody wrote down and everybody obeys.

Work with organisations begins by making those agreements visible. The Enneagram helps here for a practical reason: it gives vocabulary. It makes it possible to say «this thing I'm doing is my pattern» without it sounding like an accusation or an excuse.

Then come the tools: meetings that decide, conflict resolved in the room rather than behind backs, and leadership that doesn't depend on the leader being in a good mood.

Where to begin
  1. An honest diagnosis

Individual conversations before any group session, to understand what is really going on, including what would hardly be said in front of everyone.

  2. A shared vocabulary

Build a shared language that makes it possible to talk about behaviour, differences and patterns without judging, accusing or putting people on the defensive.

  3. The three postponed conversations

Identify the important conversations everyone knows need to happen but that keep being put off. Having them can change more than many hours of training.

  4. Install rituals

Create a few team habits, simple, short and kept consistently. It is the repetition of these behaviours that, over time, becomes culture.

What conversation does your team keep putting off?

If you feel your team has talent but gets stuck in what goes unsaid, we can talk about how to unlock your group's dynamic.
