Personality
Personality is not a fault to be corrected. It is an old solution still being applied to new problems.
What we call character is largely a set of decisions made very early, with the information available at the time, by a child doing the best they knew. The problem isn't the decision. It is that it was never revisited.
Working on personality is not swapping it for another one. It is restoring its status as a choice: recognising the automatism while it is happening and, in that one-second gap, being able to do something else.
It is less spectacular than the books suggest and more lasting than it seems at first. It changes little at a time, and it changes for good.

- Separate you from the pattern
Start with the sentences you have been saying about yourself for twenty years without question.
- Find the cost
Every pattern protects you from something, and charges you for the protection.
- Work the gap
Between stimulus and reaction there is a space. Freedom lives there.
- Take it into real life
One difficult conversation is worth ten chapters.
